Breakthrough Fast 2022 Day 13
Day 13 Saturday January 15
We are in the beginning of our 2022 theme Turn the Page. Today we are praying for God to give us a passion for the lost souls that we touch every day. We are asking God to order our steps, open doors, fill our mouths, and make our hearts fearless as we simply share the life-giving love of Jesus we have experienced.
In a conversation about God and spiritual things the person with an experience has an incredible advantage over the person with an ideal. The advantage is called a testimony, and this is what we are to transparently share with people. It should never be a conversation about what I know that you don’t but a conversation that allows the listener to identify with the transparency of the compassionate mercy, and the cleansing forgiveness of our experience with God.
Our reading begins reminding us that the gospel is veiled because the god of this world has closed or blinded the eyes of the unbeliever so that they cannot see the glory of the light of the gospel.
When we share our gospel testimony, we are simply attempting to present the glory of God in such a way that their blinded eyes begin to open and help them overcome the fear of their encountering what is unknown to them.
People are so bombarded with competing messages that there are multiple ways to God that we can even take a false comfort and relieve ourselves of our common mission as followers of Christ to reach the lost. One of our CORE values is Found People Find People.
Peter makes it clear that God made Jesus whom we all crucified both Lord and Christ. This is the message that cuts to the heart and is the message the world, the flesh, and the devil are attempting to silence. Peter also made it abundantly and eternally clear that there is no other name under heaven whereby a man must be saved.
When those who arrested Peter and John for preaching the message of Jesus crucified and resurrected saw their boldness (fearlessness) it was noted that they had spent time with Jesus, and they were instructed that they would be canceled if they were to continue to preach Christ.
When they reported what had happened to the brethren, they raised their voice (prayed) in one accord to God who made the heavens and the earth and everything in them. They petitioned God to look on their threats, and to grant them the boldness to speak God’s word. They asked God to reach out His hand and to heal and that signs and wonders be done through them to support His word.
When they had prayed the place was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit again and they spoke the word of God with boldness or fearlessly.
The activity of sharing the power of forgiveness and deliverance we have experienced is the very thing that helps us understand the power of the contagion we have received from God through Jesus Christ.
May we pray in one accord to be baptized with the Holy Spirit again and again and again until we Turn the Page and Move Forward with boldness.
I challenge us all to go pray through the twelve subjects of the Lord’s prayer and just allow the Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, and inspire you. Jesus gave us this model to be effective in prayer and He will meet us and empower us through it.
